About the Fish: Salmon
Biology: Salmon (Salmo salar) is a cold-water species found in the North Atlantic Ocean and the rivers that feed into it. Additionally, it is prevalent in the Pacific Ocean, with various species along the coastal waters of North America, Japan, and Russia.
Taste & Nutrition: Salmon is known for its rich, buttery taste and firm, flaky texture. Its high oil content adds to its luxurious mouthfeel. Nutritionally, salmon is an excellent source of high-quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and essential vitamins such as B6, B12, and D, along with minerals like selenium.
Cooking: Salmon's versatility in the kitchen is one of its standout features. It can be baked, grilled, smoked, or pan-seared, retaining its firm texture and rich flavor through various cooking techniques.
Sustainability: Nordic Catch Salmon is sustainably harvested and delivered fresh, never frozen. The fishing practices in Iceland are rigorously monitored to prevent overfishing, with the majority of the salmon caught using longline methods. Opting for Nordic Catch Salmon supports sustainable fishing practices that help preserve ocean ecosystems.
