About the Fish: Trout

Biology: Trout (Salmo trutta) is a species of cold-water fish that dwells in freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Taste & Nutrition: Trout offers a delicate, mild flavor with a hint of nuttiness. Its flesh is tender and flaky, complemented by its moderate oil content. This fish is a great source of high-quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and essential vitamins and minerals.

Cooking: Trout retains its moist texture whether you bake, grill, smoke, or pan-sear it, making it versatile for a wide range of recipes.

Sustainability: With generally lower mercury levels compared to larger predatory fish, trout is a healthy and eco-friendly seafood option. Particularly when it’s sourced from responsible aquaculture or well-managed wild fisheries, trout supports sustainable seafood practices.
