Premium Hokkaido Scallops, Now in Bulk

These are the same extra-large Japanese Hokkaido scallops offered in our smaller packs, now available in a convenient 1 kg box with more favorable bulk pricing.

Harvested from the cold waters surrounding Hokkaido, these scallops are prized for their natural sweetness, substantial size, and clean ocean flavor. Each scallop is individually frozen, allowing you to thaw only what you need while keeping the remainder frozen for another meal.

The larger format is ideal for sushi nights, dinner parties, entertaining, meal preparation, or simply keeping one of the world’s most prized scallops stocked in your freezer.

What Does U10 Mean?

U10 means there are fewer than 10 scallops per pound. This larger grading delivers thick, meaty scallops that make an impressive presentation and are easier to sear without overcooking.

These are full-size scallop muscles—not bay scallops, mini scallops, or broken pieces. Because scallops are a natural product, the exact size and number in each box may vary.

Why Hokkaido Scallops?

Hokkaido scallops are internationally recognized for their sweetness, tenderness, and remarkably clean flavor. The cold northern waters of Japan help produce scallops with a firm structure and rich taste that works equally well raw or cooked.

These scallops are also dry-packed without added preservatives. They retain their natural flavor and sear properly instead of releasing excess added water into the pan.

Flavor and Texture

Raw Hokkaido scallops have a delicate, silky texture with clean sweetness and a mild ocean finish.

When cooked, the exterior develops a golden crust while the center remains tender, juicy, and meaty.

Expect:

  • Natural sweetness
  • Clean, delicate flavor
  • Thick and substantial texture
  • Silky finish when served raw
  • Tender, meaty bite when seared

How to Enjoy Hokkaido Scallops

Sashimi or Crudo

Thaw slowly under refrigeration, pat completely dry, and slice horizontally. Serve simply with citrus, ponzu, fresh wasabi, soy sauce, or flaky sea salt.

Pan-Seared

Pat the scallops completely dry and season lightly. Sear in a hot pan with a small amount of high-heat oil until a golden crust forms, then finish with butter.

Grilled

Lightly coat with oil and grill over high heat. Their U10 size helps them remain tender and juicy on the grill.

Baked or Broiled

Broil briefly with butter, garlic, herbs, or a light breadcrumb topping. Avoid overcooking to preserve their natural tenderness.

Customer photo review of Wild Japanese Sea Scallops, Sushi Grade, Extra Large (12oz portion)

Everything came 24 hours late. Still frozen. We could not have out planned dinner. Uni was in good shape but bitter. Scallops did not live up to our expectations, salmon and tuna were ok. Wish salmon was already cleaned and ready for sushi and sashimi
